Rosy Raven Game Dev

Who is RosyRaven?

I'm Robin Quintin, known online as RosyRaven, a gameplay programmer from the heart of the Appalachian mountains. I've been programming from the age of twelve, but I've always been creating. Whether it's baking, crocheting, or writing, I'm nearly always working on something new.

Why do you love programming so much?

As I said previously, I've been programming since I was twelve years old. I don't think anything I made back then still exists, unfortunately, but I started out by making Android apps and Minecraft mods, and these mods were what made me fall in love with the craft. I loved taking what someone else had made, and adding to it. Before I was working in Eclipse, I was using copy paper to make my own additions to the card game Munchkin, and still today, after a long day in Unity and Visual Studio, I'll sit down and make homebrew for D&D.

So why the raven?

I think I mentioned previously that I enjoy making things. In the summer of 2024, I was out of classes, so I was bored and decided to learn Blender. I love birds, and especially the more common, underappreciated ones that you see in your backyard or at the park, so I decided to model a bird. I've never been great when it comes to 2d art, so I decided to go with a visually simple one that wouldn't require a complex texture sheet, and after an afternoon of struggling to remember keybinds, I had a few renders of a raven sitting on a branch! I was so happy with it that I decided to make it my profile picture on pretty much everything, and figured I needed a nice, alliterative name that wouldn't be confused with anyone else. Thus, RosyRaven was born!
